SPICEMONEY
Motor Insurance - Retail platform for adhikari's
Market Research, User Interviews, Design validation, Visual Design
Motor insurance is a specialized insurance policy designed for 2-wheeler vehicle owners to protect them from financial losses arising from vehicle damage or theft. Our B2B platform, serving tier 3 and tier 4 adhikaris (retailers), aims to offer a seamless and user-friendly experience for purchasing retail motor insurance products.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
To offer Insurance product through app & webpage platform for all the adhikari's who are desirous of purchasing the retail insurance products.
Our design team was tasked with creating a seamless and user-friendly experience for purchasing motor insurance through the Spice Money platform.
MY ROLE
I led the designs and
-
Created prototypes and wireframes for the web & app platform
-
Conducted validation call to collect feedback from SpiceMoney users and also from external customers who are non-users of our platform
-
Utilized design interview calls as a means to gather feedback from both user groups.
MY APPROACH
In our design process, we followed the design thinking approach. We place importance on key phases such as requirement gathering, research, ideation, validation, and design. By following this methodology, we ensure a holistic and user-centric approach throughout our design journey.
Requirement Understanding
To kickstart the project, we had detailed discussions with our product stakeholders to understand the module's goals. Additionally, we collected feedback from tier 3 and tier 4 retailers, who are users of the platform and already doing business in other insurance platforms, to learn about their preferences and challenges when purchasing motor insurance. This valuable input formed the foundation for our design process, ensuring that the final solution met the specific needs of our users.
Market Research
Understanding the concept of insurance and how it works, from actually buying one to using it, was an important step that helped gain insights into its functionality. I researched and analyzed 3-4 platforms that potentially have access to large audiences and derived patterns of purchasing behavior.
Some of the platforms explored were :
User flow
Once I completed my analysis of the user's needs, I created a flow chart by sketching out the sequence of steps or interactions that users will follow within the system or application.
Wireframes
After completing the flow chart, I moved on to creating wireframes to translate the UX flows into tangible screens that can be shared and explained.
The key focus here is on forming the structure and navigation of each screen, including the architecture and hierarchy of the content. Once elements are defined, prototype is created that allows us to connect each screen for an interactive user experience.
User Validation
During the validation phase, we validate the low-fidelity designs with our customers who are either involved in or have an interest in the insurance business. In this phase, we gain major insights from our Adhikari's. Then, we integrate the feedback into the low-fidelity designs and validate them again with our Adhikari's. This is an iterative stage, and it involves a lot of back and forth with Adhikari's and other team members. This process continues until we find the base format and flow that meets our requirements.
USER INSIGHTS
Some major insights we got from our Adhikari's who already do insurance business :
Visual designs
Once the wireframes were validated, I moved on to the visual design. I created visual designs that were visually appealing, consistent with our brand guidelines, and optimized for mobile and web platforms.
Project on hold
The project was in the process of awaiting approval from the product stakeholders to move forward. However, after some time had passed, the business decided to temporarily put the project on hold. Even during my time there, the project remained on hold, but everything was prepared from the design side to proceed with development.
